  Google Adsense is actually some type of an affiliate marketing program.  In Google Adsense, Google acts as an intermediary between affiliates and merchants.  Merchants or advertisers will only sign up with Google and provide text ads related to their products.  These ads, which are actually a link to the advertiser's website, will then appear on Google searches as well as websites owned by affiliates, or by webmasters who have signed up with the Google Adsense program.
